For almost 50 years have I been involved with clay, with ceramics. 15 Years ago I retired from production pottery. I have now the privilege to ‘play’ with clay, to let my imagination go, to move into the realms of sculpture. Now I must mention, that I have no formal training in either ceramics, or sculpture. Ray, my partner in life, partner in Stanyer’s Pottery, father of my 3 children, taught me what I know. He left me 5 years ago. Before his death he taught me how to fire the kilns, but he never got around in letting me into his secrets of glaze making. My brain could not bend itself to all the percentages and numbers in his book of glazes, so I decided the lazy way out and went for a commercial product. I discovered bright colours, which fitted perfectly in the dullness of the Australian bush I live in.
